Amanda Lynn - HerSong Music Interview

Amanda Lynn was born in Cartersville, Georgia. She remembers setting up a stage in the back of her Dad’s Red 1980’s Chevrolet pickup. Using a broom or rake as a microphone, she sang to her stuffed animals and baby dolls, all sorted carefully in lawn chairs to view the stage perfectly. Today, Amanda has been compared to a female version of Chris Stapleton with a dash of Dolly Parton, Tom Petty, and Sturgill Simpson as she breaks the traditional mold with stories of her journey through the tiny towns of Southeast.

What is your earliest memory of music? And, how did you get started in music?

I couldn’t even tell you my earliest memory. It is something that I just always felt was inside of me.

What was the first song you ever wrote? What or who inspired you to start writing music?

I can’t remember my earliest song. I was inspired by Dolly Parton, Madonna, old Church hymns, the Highway men, and probably CCR. that is what I heard on the radio and from my parents and grandparents.

Do you play any instruments?

I hear my melodies in my head and I can bang around on the guitar enough to show talented musicians what I’m trying to convey.

What is your favorite part about being an artist (performing, recording, writing, playing)?

My favorite part about being an artist is the high I get from creating.

Do you have any advice for young women pursuing music?

Stay true to yourself. Don’t follow other vocalists or sounds that are cool. Ladies, do not get sucked into drama with powerful men in the industry. "Me too" is very much alive and well in Nashville. Be careful, stay safe. Live, live, live. Go home and live your life before you try and tell anybody anything.

For readers who have never heard your music, can you suggest one or two songs to start with?

I’m not really the right person to ask what songs to start with. I would ask fans of the music what they recommend. I just write, sing and put it out. How it is listened to is none of my business.

Where can fans access your music?

Listen on Spotify.

Find on Apple Music.
